Crafter's Delight: Glitter Gift Wrap and Card

Image
It's time for another edition of Crafter's Delight! A few weeks ago, I had a special gift to share and wanted to create a special gift wrapping presentation for it. This was super simple but high impact, and I just loved the way it turned out! Here's how I did it: From top to bottom: I started by wrapping the gift in yellow-green wrapping paper. I used a circle cutter and bronze glitter paper to cut out 1", 1.5", and 2" circles and used spray mount adhesive to secure the circles to the box. Then I took a burnished bronze ribbon and tied a massive bow with long tails. I wanted the gift to look decorated but not overly so, and I think this did the trick. For the card, I found this wonderful yellow-green and brown craft paper and secured it to brown card stock to create a sturdy card, using a bone folder to create a crisp edge. I then took my remaining bronze glitter dots and secured them to the outside of the card. A simple mess...

Five Ways To Use Baking Soda for Cleaning

As a fan of cleaning and organizing, I always love finding new ways to tackle cleaning projects quickly and effectively. And when baking soda isn’t helping me with cookie and cake recipes, it’s my go-to cleaning product. Here are five of my favorite ways to use baking soda for cleaning projects: Use as a deodorizer or to absorb moisture We all know to leave an open box of baking soda in our refrigerators to keep food odors at bay - but you can deodorize so many other things with baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda on your carpets or upholstered furniture and wait a few minutes before vacuuming it up to absorb moisture and get rid of pesky pet odors. Place baking soda and a few drops of essential oil in a bowl and you’ve got a fragrant odor absorber that’s perfect for leaving in the bathroom - or sprinkle that mixture on top of your garbage to keep the smell of trash at bay in between trash collection days. Finally, freshen up smelly shoes by sprinkling the insides with baking soda. ...

Wha's In My Travel Makeup Bag (January 2018 Edition)

Image
In this week's post, I'm sharing all the makeup products I'm taking with my on a business trip. It can be tough to pack for work trips because you've got to find the right balance between professional makeup that lasts all day and products that travel well. Here are the products I'm taking with me so that I can look my best while on the go! It all starts with the makeup bag. I lucked into this great travel bag as a free gift with purchase at a department store Dior counter. I'm obsessed with travel bags and pouches and I love that this one both has separate compartments for my brushes and my products all in one compact bag. My Guerlain Meteorites Oxygen Care primer is a great multitasker - it moisturizes, keeps skin clear with oxygen in its formula (great for me since I'll be keeping long hours in my makeup), and adds radiance to my skin so I can cheat like I got more sleep than I did while working on this trip. For comple...

New Beauty Products I've Been Loving (January 2018)

Image
Happy New Year! I took a few weeks off to celebrate the holiday season but I'm back with another round up of the new (or new to me) beauty products I've been using and loving. I featured Bumble and Bumble in last year's curly hair product post and I've only grown to adore their products more for my hair. Their Thickening shampoo and conditioner are another welcome addition to my hair routine. As always, I don't have to use much product to get great results and my hair looks fuller after use. Winter takes all the volume out of my hair and this is bringing it back for me! I've been really impressed by Clinique skin care lately, and their Different Moisturizing Lotion+ has been a welcome addition. Not only has it helped combat my dry winter skin, but I really do feel it's been making a difference in my skin texture and rebalancing my oily and dry areas.  I love setting powders and sprays that give my skin a healthy glow, and I'v...
