Batman the Animated Series Gift Wrapping
A Sunday crafting session...there's no better way to spend the day in my book! I have a Batman fan of a friend who's got an upcoming birthday and I wanted to do something really special. Here's how I did it.
I started by wrapping the gift itself in plain blue paper. I then searched Google Images to find some great high resolution images from the 90's era of Batman The Animated Series.
I found this super cool photo of Batman with lightening bolts behind him and loved the way he towered over the city from his perch. I played with sizing and perspective a bit until I got everything at the right size. I printed two copies on card stock and, after sandwiching two pieces of heavy card stock at the base of the photos, pasted them back to back. The picture was then placed them under paperweights to keep the hold.
I then found this cool collage of Batman's foes and spent some time sizing it so that each square would be roughly 4 cm to create a checkerboard pattern on the 28 cm gift box. I then printed the finished product on white sticker paper.
To get Batman to stand upright, I used adhesive dots to secure the two pieces of heavy card stock to the box, then used invisible tape to reinforce the seams on either side between the bottom of the Batman card and the heavy card stock. The tape acts as a brace to make sure that the card stock doesn't flop around.
On to the part that ties it all together - the villains! I cut each villain out and started by placing the Joker down to hide the heavy card stock. The Joker also served as an anchor when laying down each individual sticker.
To make the card, I found this picture on Google Images and loved its retro appeal. After sizing it I printed it on white card stock.
I then mounted the image on an inky blue card stock. I used a "Happy Birthday" stamper and a silver stamp pad to make the card suitable for the occasion. I finished the card off by using a 1-inch corner punch to create the rounded edges.

And that's the finished product! It was certainly a labor of love but I think the results more than speak for themselves.
